“It takes a Village …” or, in this case, a Community
This past weekend, Michael Joel Hall, a beloved instructor and member of our DC yoga community, was attacked and severely beaten along with his partner. It was a senseless and vicious crime. Fortunately, even though Michael has needed surgery, both he and his partner are okay; unfortunately, Michael doesn’t have insurance. Having just lost his house to a fire, Michael has few available resources. That’s where our Community comes in.
Michael has given his students the joy of knowing themselves through yoga, and now it’s our turn to give back to him. This Friday, July 27th, the evening classes at all 3 Down Dog studios will be donation-based to help Michael pay for his medical expenses. How much is up to you; $25 will make a huge difference, but whatever you can give will mean the world to him.
Ultimately, this is about bringing together collective energy and sending it to a friend in need. So let’s do what we Down Doggers do best: come together, turn misfortune into a show of love, and be the embodiment of community.
