School NECESSITIES Backpack Drive for Local Homeless Kids in LA Unified School District
with Share Necessities and Yoga Energy Activism
Only 30 spaces are available for this special class but if you can't be there then go to our Indigogo site and help join the effort for our minimum commitment of providing backpacks for 300 kids in Venice by August 16th.
This $35 class gives each student a backpack, solar lamp (that also supports Solar-Aid Project in Africa) and school supplies to prepare them to have a successful school year.
$108 provides one back pack with school supplies for the school year and a hygiene kit or three backpacks for half a year. 100% of proceeds go directly to the kids backpack project through Share Necessities program and are tax deductible through LAUSD.
From August 11-17th You can also bring any backpack you have in good shape with basic school supplies (paper, pen,etc) and any positive message.

Global Mala Project
Be part of this world-wide collective celebration and service in action.
The Global Mala Project (www.globalmala.org) is uniting yoga, service and collective action. The purpose of the project is to bring the global yoga community together from every continent, school and approach to form a "mala around the earth" through collective practices based upon the sacred cycle of 108 (108 Surya Namaskar, Mantra, Kriya, Meditation).
Events will take place on Sept. 19th, 20th and 21st, aligning with the Fall Equinox and UN International Peace Day in a diversity of communities. The funds raised from this celebration will go to organizations devoted to some of the most essential issues of our times. Examples include:
* Solar-Energy (Solar-Aid)
* Global warming (Trees for the Future)
* Children refugees of war (War Child)
* HIV/AIDS (YouthAIDS)
Create Your Own Local Event
The spirit of Global Mala is not to create yet another event, with more administration and extra work, but to inspire and turn to the source of yoga to educate, inspire and bring people together to act on the most critical issues facing individuals, the collective community and the world - all of creation.
Action doesn't have to be a struggle.
