Hello Wheatsville friends and fans!
People wonder why we're all so happy and friendly all the time. The answer is pretty simple, a good mood is catchy and we all like to have fun! This past week we posted this photo on FaceBook with a caption that said, "You know you work at Wheatsville when..." and the picture below kind of sums it all up. Having fun and sharing kindness is just one of the many ways we work towards our BIG Direction.
What's Wheatsville's BIG Direction, you might ask? It's our co-ops mission and what we strive to achieve by being successful grocers.
Wheatsville's BIG Direction:
Wheatsville will be at the forefront of a transformed society that has:
-
More Happy People The more people we can share a smile or help out with a donation because we're profitable, the More Happy People we've made.
-
More Co-op Economy We think co-ops are a better way to do business. The more we are able to buy from and support other co-ops, the More Co-op Economy we help create.
-
More Local, Organic, Sustainable Food The more local, organic, sustainable food we buy and sell helps to create demand for More Local, Organic, Sustainable Food.
If we've made your day, let us know! There are 'I LOVE Wheatsville' forms at the Hospitality Desk or you can always just email us. We LOVE reading your comments and knowing we've made your day REALLY makes ours.

Grape Expectations
Locally grown yellow peaches are still going strong and are so good but will not last forever! Our peaches are freestone which makes them perfect for canning or freezing: so easy to cut and eat. Cooper Farms in Fairfield is our peach farm du jour and they do the name “Texas-Grown Peach” a good service. Come by and grab a few!

Last week, we saw the first delivery of organic champagne grapes which is cause enough to pop open a bottle of the bubbly stuff. Named for their resemblance to the famous “tiny bubbles” as well as their fantastic favor, champagne grapes are a hit with kids and grownups alike! They’re perfect finger food and the stems are so tender you can just chew them up along with the fruit. Great with cheese!

Back to School: Quick & Easy Meat Ideas
Summer is almost over and another school year is about to begin. This is a good time to start looking toward those quick meal ideas.
Niman Ranch Entrees and Wheatsville Deli sides are an easy meal and all you have to do is heat them in the oven. Pulled Pork, Beef Pot Roast in Pomodoro Sauce and Beef Tips in Provencal Sauce are an easy way to get the family fed.
Another easy meal is the slow cooker. Rich stews and braises made with little fuss are an easy way to bring home that comfort food feeling. Have everything prepped in the morning, throw it in the pot and when you get home you have dinner. Pork Shoulder and Loin Roasts are great for this. Lamb Shanks and Stew/Kabob Cuts, and Beef Chuck Roasts and Brisket are great in the crock pot.
Don’t forget to try out our new Oregon Tilth Certified Organic Free Range 'Rosie' Chickens. Rosie is from Sonoma County, California is another quick and easy way to feed the family with fuss-free cooking.
Pachamama Coffee Sale!
I have such great news to share with you this week! The Pachamama Coffee Co-op is offering a really great deal starting today and going all the way to the end of October. All varieties will be on sale at $11.49! Which means you save $2.30 PER POUND!
Also they are introducing the Co-op Blend coffee which provides 3% of its proceeds to cooperative development non-profits. If you haven’t tried their coffee before now would be the perfect time. They are a wonderful co-op that provides so much to their farmers so go ahead and give them a try.

Owner Deals
Have you tried Barbara’s Puffins cereals? This line of terrific tasting cereal was named by a long-time employee of Barbara’s who fell in love with puffins (the birds) on an Alaskan adventure trip. They inspired Barbara’s to fledge a flock of delicious wheat-free Puffins cereals with a crunch that’s almost as amazing as the birds they were named for! You’ll love the lightly sweetened, crunchy pillows of yummy corn, multigrains and honey flavored rice. These are on sale now for $4.49, reg. $4.99.

Hospice Austin
With your help, Wheatsville donated $3,140 to Austin Pets Alive!, June’s Community Action Group. Thanks for helping us support our local community and APA!’s initiative to make Austin a no kill city!
This month, we are supporting an organization that is near and dear to our hearts. For over 30 years, Hospice Austin has provided compassionate end-of-life care to patients and their loved ones in Travis, Williamson, Bastrop, Caldwell, and Hays counties.
Hospice Austin helps each patient and their family make the most of each day of life, honoring the values of each individual and fitting their comprehensive, specialized care to the patient’s needs. Services can be administered in the patient’s home, in the hospital, in a nursing home or assisted living facility, or at Hospice Austin's Christopher House. Hospice Austin knows that times like this can be an intense, exhausting time filled with sadness and fear of the unknown so they are here to walk side-by-side with patients and their families, every step of the way.
One percent of August’s Wednesday sales (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd) will be donated to Hospice Austin as well as additional contributions and reusable bag credits that shoppers donate at the cash register. While you are here, stop by the bakery and pick up one of our buttery Community Action Cookies. This month, they will be hand-decorated as dark blue hearts, to resemble Hospice Austin’s logo.
Thank you so much for your support. We look forward to seeing you on our
Community Action Wednesdays!
I hope you have a most excellent week!
